550 years Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

OFBJP family is proud of Guru Nanak Gurudwara Sahib Amsterdam celebrated 550 years Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji by walking the talk on Humanity and Sustainability. Jeroen van Berkel and his entire team from Gemeente Amsterdam ( west) were present to support this auspicious occasion. Once the Gemeente Amsterdam members arrived at Gurudwara Sahib there was prayer service. This was followed by opening ceremony of Planting of 55O trees and handing over free food packets to Nederlandse Voeding Bank for 550 needy people.

Jeroen was impressed to see the community living and appreciated the actions of our Sikh Community. He said ” Till today we only have people who have come to ask things from Gemeente Amsterdam. This is first time we have received a request to give things back to the city.” There were slogans of happiness, tears of joy and moments of pride where humility and humanity took precedence during this historic special day. The celebration ended with Langar

The large heart of our Sikh community to donate money for the trees, food, langar was appreciated by Gurudwara management. Amsterdam Municipality staff appreciated the efforts of our Sikh Community to integrate, learn the Dutch language and commitment to live together. We also informed Jeroen that the Sikh Community has created two historic moments back home for Unity and Gender Equality.
